Tip of the Week: Sharing Large Files Efficiently
Collaboration is key to modern business operations, and that often involves sharing files of various sizes. Historically, sharing large files has been a challenge, but technology has made this process much easier. Here are some simple ways to share large files with your team.
How to Share Large Files via Google Drive
To share a file through Google Drive, it first needs to be uploaded. If your file isn’t already in Google Drive, follow these steps:
- Go to Google Drive.
- Click New, then choose either File upload or Folder upload.
- Select the file or folder you want to share.
- You can also drag and drop files directly into a folder in Google Drive.
Once uploaded, right-click the file, choose Share, and then click Copy link. You can paste this link into an email or message to share it with your team.
How to Share Large Files via Microsoft OneDrive
Similar to Google Drive, files must be uploaded to Microsoft OneDrive before sharing. Here's how:
- Log in to Office.com and find OneDrive in the app launcher.
- Click Add new and select the file or folder you want to upload.
- Click Upload.
To share the file, select it by clicking the circle icon next to it, then click Share at the top of the screen. A window will open with the option to Copy link. Once copied, you can share the link via email or message.
